About Yvonne
Yvonne's Story
Communicating her heart with her paintbrush, Yvonne Reddick passionately conveys on canvas what is bubbling up inside of her.
Reddick’s inspiration and subject matter are vast, from a warm, pastoral landscape to the deep blues and greens of an ocean scene, to the exquisiteness of the human figure.
Initially inspired to paint while spending time traveling in Italy, Reddick was stirred deeply by the beauty of the old world paintings and sculptures, particularly those from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Accepting an invitation from renowned Canadian artist David Langevin, Yvonne spent several years studying under him in the master-apprentice tradition. She has been working full time at her craft since 2007 when she was invited to be represented by some of the Fine Art Galleries in Canada.
She continues to study and apply the techniques of the European Old Masters, such as Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Titian and Vermeer.
“With great skill, Reddick renders her art works into delectable, sensuous visions. She patiently builds her oil paintings so that each work is made up of many layers of paint. Consequently, they seem to glow with light and achieve a depth and intensity of saturated colour.” (Kamloops Public Art Gallery Curator)
Yvonne grew up in beautiful, pastoral, Prince Edward County on the north shore of Lake Ontario, and for most of her adult life has lived in the mountainous interior of British Columbia. She credits both of these stunning and romantic places with having a strong influence on her creativity.
Reddick’s work is exhibited in galleries across Canada and is collected in Australia, England, New Zealand, U.S., Scotland and China.
